My name is David and I opened Auckley Friery in the Christmas of 2003 and slowly started building a great village Fish & Chip shop. In 2006 I made the decision to focus solely on delivering great fish and chips without any distraction from kebabs and the like. That was a real turning point for the team and the business started to grow and go from strength to strength.

In 2017 we noticed our faithful old gas guzzling range was starting to show its years. While we were putting in a new high efficiency range, we thought the shop should have a fresh new look to go with it. After a huge refit we were back up and running in January 2018 with a very chic and pretty looking shop which we are incredibly proud of.

2018 also saw us become members of the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), the trade body of the industry. This led us to enter competitions including the Fry Magazine Top 50 Takeaways in the UK which is an outstanding achievement when there was around 12,000 Fish & Chip shops in the UK. We currently hold several awards including Top 10 Takeaway in the UK 2023 & 2024. We have became not just a village Fish & Chip shop but also a destination one too.

We genuinely put quality at the heart of everything we do, from the sourcing of our MSC certified Cod and Haddock wrapped in a batter that is free of additives, our own handmade fishcakes, the natural seasonings we use in our peas to making our own Tartare and Garlic Mayo Sauce.

We source the highest standard of ingredients. This is our ethic and quality is paramount. Our MSc Cod and Haddock is of the highest grade, caught in Icelandic waters and then frozen at sea. It is defrosted in our specialist thaw cabinet to slowly bring the temperature up to 1c ready for trimming and sizing for the day ahead.

We have a high efficiency range that is so fast we can cook all our fish to order and chips are twice cooked in separate baskets in small quantities so your chips are always fresh, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Our potatoes are usually grown within a few miles of our shop, nothing like locally sourced!

We make own fishcakes using our MSc Fish Trimmings, poached in whole milk and butter. Our deep fried Cypriot Halloumi is served with our own homemade gorgeous Chilli jam. We are also currently developing some more in house products which are nearing launch.

All our handmade sauces such as Garlic Mayo and Tartare Sauce are made to our own recipe using quality ingredients such as garden grown dill and our own Sous Vide confit garlic.
